She was born June 25th 1988 and raised on a farm in Dalsbygda in Os. She is a Norwegian cross-country skier representing Nansen IL, a three times Olympic Medalist and is one of Norways most popular athletes.
In World Championships she has won four individual gold medals + three gold medals in realys, and she is a three-time Olympic medalist.
After skiing some domestic races in the 2006 season, Therese took part of the Norwegian Championships in 2007, winning a bronze at the 7,5 km + 7,5 km double pursuit event. She was selected for two World Cup races prior to the World Championships finishing #8 and #33 in two interval 10 km start races, making sure she got qualified to World Championships in Sapporo 2007 where she won a surprising bronze medal. At the Vancouver Olympics 2010 she won gold in the 4x5 km relay, #6 in 15 km pursuit and #7 in the 30 km mass start (classic). Therese won her first individual gold medal at the 30 km mass start at World Championships in Holmenkollen, Oslo. She also won gold in the 10 km individual start. At the 2013 World Championships she won her second individual gold medal in the 10 km freestyle race. During the OL in Sochi she won a silver medal in the 30 km mass start (free), and the bronze medal in the 10 km classical, she also finished #4 in the 15 km skiathlon. Therese became the first female Norwegian to win the Tour de Ski in the 2013/2014 edition. Her most succsessful World Championships performance yet was in Falun, where she took three gold medals: 15 km skiathlon, 30 km mass start and 4*5 km relay. Therese followed the sucsess with her best ever World Cup season in 2015/2016, winning Tour de Ski and Tour de Canada.
